Present and former employees of the RJR Communications Group paid tribute to the life of Richard A C Andrews at a thanksgiving service, this morning, at St Luke's Church, Cross Roads, Kingston 5
Senior Marketing Executive at RJR, Tanya Thurlow, in giving the remembrance, said Richard Andrews' love of music began at an early age.
She noted that although music was such a huge part of his life, he always wanted to be a pilot.
Ms. Thurlow said to have known "Richie", as he was affectionately called, was to have known someone with warm and thoughtful ways, who added sunshine everywhere he went. She added that even on the days when his illness made it difficult, Richard could still manage a smile.
After joining the RJR Group, "Richie" took listeners on an unforgettable musical journey, over the years, with his enthusiasm and remarkable wealth of musical knowledge.
During his tenure at the RJR group, he also worked as a relief announcer on FAME FM, and as a relief overnight deejay on RJR, before working full-time in the music library, and as part of the FAME FM team.
He worked with RJR for over 30 years, until his departure in 2011.
"Richie" died on Saturday April 21, after a long illness.
