Inspector Berthlyn Lloyd, acting Territorial Officer for Manchester Police Division
With major crimes down in the Manchester police division, the police are promising an end to curfews across the parish, as early as this weekend.
Inspector Berthlyn Lloyd, acting Territorial Officer for the Division, made the disclosure Thursday at the monthly meeting of the Manchester Municipal Corporation.
Inspector Lloyd was responding to queries from Councillor for the Craighead division, Omar miller.
The senior cop provided a breakdown of crimes in the parish for the period January 1 to April 2025, revealing that Manchester had recorded 39 "serious crimes," during the period under review, a 49 per cent reduction from the 76 committed during the corresponding period last year.
He revealed further that there have been four murders in the Division so far this year, down from 11 for the same period last year.
There has been a marginal increase in aggravated assault with six recorded for this year when compared with five for the corresponding period last year.
Inspector Lloyd also commended residents of Porus for maintaining peace and order after the recently imposed curfew was lifted a few weeks ago.
The protracted period of restrictions came in response to a spate of murders in the area, but residents complained that the measures were crippling business.
