Rodney Chin gone?

As the cloud over the Kern Spencer corruption trial continues, RJR News understands that the star witness, Rodney Chin, has left the country because of alleged threats on his life.

It is understood that Mr. Chin and his family migrated following the threats.

Gunmen allegedly went to his home on two occasions.

It is unclear whether he will return to give testimony at the highly controversial trial.

RJR News spoke with Richard Small, one of Mr. Chin's attorneys, who declined to comment on the matter or confirm the report.

Paula Llewellyn, Director of Public Prosecutions, also declined to comment on whether or not Mr. Chin has migrated.

She however insisted that Mr. Chin, the Crown's star witness in the case, will turn up to give testimony whenever the trial resumes.

It is understood that a member of Mr. Chin family is now managing his multi-million dollar construction company while he is away.

The St. Andrew businessman has come under intense fire from defence attorneys during his testimony at the Spencer corruption trial.

At the trial, he testified that he used his name to set up several dummy companies on behalf of Mr. Spencer.

The companies in question received contracts under the Cuban light bulb programme which was under the control of the former Junior Energy Minister.
