Rushane Patterson, the person of interest in the death of social media personality Aneka "Slickianna" Townsend, was on Thursday charged with an unrelated offence.
Mr. Patterson was charged with abduction and assault with intend to rob.
The charges stem from a matter in 2018 at Duhaney Park in St. Andrew.
It's reported that Mr. Patterson met with an ex-girlfriend at a service station.
When his ex-girlfriend got in the car, Mr. Patterson accused her of working with the police, then drove her away against her will.
Mr. Patterson later stopped along the roadway where he choked the woman and inflicted several blows to her body.
According to the reports, Mr. Patterson demanded cash from her but she refused.
The police say he threatened to kill the woman and throw her body away, but she convinced him that she would not make a report to the police.
When he took her back to her car and left, the woman reported the matter to the police.
Mr. Patterson was detained at a guesthouse in Hanover during an operation on Wednesday after failing to surrender to the police in relation to the killing of Aneka Townsend.
He is expected to be questioned in relation to that matter.
