Sandy Bay fire caused by faulty electrical wiring

An electrical fault has been blamed for Monday morning's fire which claimed the lives of two persons in Sandy Bay, Clarendon.

The May Pen Fire Department says its preliminary investigation has ruled out arson as a possible cause.

72-year-old Rodney Francis and his 31-year-old tenant, Fiona Jackson, were burnt to death in the house they occupied on Sunrise Road in Sandy Bay.

Miss Jackson's mother, 49-year-old Leslethe Clarke, managed to escape with her two grandchildren.

Meanwhile Mayor of May Pen Milton Brown is calling for a collective approach in which householders in the parish ensure that they conduct periodic checks on the electrical systems in their homes.
