An official search has started for a replacement for Lenice Barnett, former Executive Director of the Students' Loan Bureau (SLB).
On Sunday newspaper advertisements revealed that applications are being sought for suitably qualified persons to fill the vacant post following Mrs. Barnett's August 10 sacking.
Her 16-year tenure with the agency was terminated with immediate effect by Finance Minister Audley Shaw who said then that Mrs. Barnett was fired following the completion of a damning audit by the Public Accountability Inspectorate Division of the Ministry of Finance.
Less than a day after the firing of Mrs. Barnett, the then Andrew Cocking-led board resigned en bloc.
A new Board was appointed, and Monica Brown, a senior Bank of Jamaica executive, was appointed as temporary manager.
The new Executive Director will, among other things plan, direct organize, and control, the affairs of the SLB.
In particular, the new appointee will ensure that funds obtained under the Students' Loan Fund Act are appropriately awarded, disbursed, secured collected and accounted for.
The new Executive Director will also be charged with the responsibility of developing operational policies and objectives for the Bureau, in conjunction with council Executives.
Applications for the post close on Friday, October 22.
