A search and rescue operation is underway for two fishermen who have been missing since October 29.
The Jamaica Defence Force says the fishermen departed Middle Cay in their blue and red vessel from Pedro Banks, destined for the Belmont in Westmoreland, when they ran out of fuel.
The JDF says after being contacted to provide assistance, it deployed both air and maritime assets in search of the fishermen between October 29 and November 1.
Assistance was also sought from the Cayman Islands Coast Guard and the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, to locate the distressed vessel.
However, after an extensive search, there has been no sign of the fishermen or the vessel.
The JDF says it is coordinating with other regional partners in Belize, Honduras, and Guatemala and other seafarers to be on the lookout for the fishermen and to report any sightings to the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre at (876) 967-8193.
