The Senate has given the green light for the establishment of the National Natural Disaster Reserve Fund - NNDRF.
Leader of Government Business in the Senate Kamina Johnson Smith piloted the amendment to the Financial Administration & Audit Act for the establishment of the Fund on Friday.
She told the Senate that, through the NNDRF, the government is moving to strengthen the country's disaster risk management framework and develop more prudent expenditure in disaster resilience and recovery.
Senator Johnson Smith said the NNDRF is to be funded with resources from the Consolidated Fund's principal bank account.
