Member of Parliament, MP, for North East St. Ann, Shahine Robinson, has been slapped with a multi-million dollar bill of costs.
Former MP, Norman Manley Bowen, who had brought legal action against her to have her expelled from Parliament due to her dual citizen status, is seeking to collect court costs, awarded in his favour.
Mrs. Robinson has been given a week to pay more than J$15 million, plus interest, at the rate of six per cent per annum to Mr. Bowen. The calculation of the interest is from April 15, 2011, to the date when she makes the payment to Mr. Bowen.
This arose from an award by Justice Roy Jones to Mr. Bowen.
If Mrs. Robinson fails to comply with the notice, bankruptcy proceedings become automatic.
