Slain cop’s son benefits from fund

The son of a Trelawny policeman who was killed in a motor vehicle accident received help Friday from the family of a slain cop.

He is the first of several children of slain police officers who will benefit from a fund named in honour of the late Sergeant Errol Brown.

Sergeant Brown who was attached to the highway patrol was killed on December 5, 2007 by armed thugs at his home in Albion, St James.

His family members say he was a firm believer in children being educated and this prompted the move to launch the education fund last December.

Reverend Courtney Walters, Area One Police Chaplain, said something had to be done to assist Ronaldo Harris, son of Constable Phillip Harris who died in a motor vehicle accident along the Bog Walk main road three years ago.

The handing over ceremony brought tears to the eyes of many as painful memories were rehashed.

It also drove home the need for continued counselling of family members of slain cops especially children.
