Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sports Olivia 'Babsy' Grange has been hospitalised.
Government Senator Abka Fitz-Henley told Radio Jamaica News on Thursday afternoon that Minister Grange was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit as a precautionary measure.
But Mr. Fitz-Henley, who is also the Parliamentary Secretary in the Office of the Prime Minister, said the minister is expected to be released from the ICU in short order.
The senator, who was authorised by Minister Grange to speak on her behalf, said the minister has been actively engaged in monitoring developments under her portfolio, including the Paris 2024 Olympics.
"She is very pleased that Rasheed Broadbell was able to medal today for Jamaica in the 110 metre hurdles. I spoke to the minister and she has asked me indicate that she is grateful for the good wishes and she expects to be well soon," he disclosed.
As a result of her hospitalisation, Minister Grange was forced to cancel a planned trip to Paris yesterday for the final days of the 2024 Olympics which ends on Sunday.
