Justice Minister Delroy Chuck on Tuesday provided an update on the implementation of video-link technology in the island's courts.
He said the technology has been installed in the St. Andrew Parish and Supreme courts to facilitate witnesses who cannot be physically present in the court room.
Before the end of the fiscal year, installation will commence in 19 additional courtrooms.
Three mobile units are equipped to facilitate witnesses giving evidence remotely.
Mr. Chuck says the ministry is close to procuring another 22 mobile units by March.
Digital audio recording
Meanwhile, digital audio recording equipment have been installed in some of the island's courtrooms.
Some 71 additional court rooms and seven hearing rooms will also be outfitted.
The justice minister added that contracts valued at more than $54 million will be signed shortly for infrastructural works at the Sutton Street Court and to enhance security at the Supreme Court.
The registry at the Supreme Court will also be outfitted with a modern file folder system.
