By Racquel Porter

A St. Ann cashier accused of swindling over $3 million from her employer has been charged with embezzlement.

The St. Ann police say 52-year-old Florient Casserly, of a Golden Grove address, was tasked with collecting bill payments from customers, processing the transactions, and issuing receipts.

It is alleged that she waited until the customers left, then used her supervisor's credentials to void the transactions and keep the monies for herself.

The complainant, acting on information from concerned customers, conducted an investigation and discovered that Ms. Casserly had allegedly embezzled $3,380,000 over a period of time.

A report was made to the police after she failed to hand over the money and she was taken into custody.
