St. Ann man charged for sexually abusing three-year-old girl

Detectives from the St. Ann Centre for the Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse (CISOCA) have arrested and charged of 53-year-old man in connection with the sexual assault of a three-year-old girl in a St. Ann community.

The St. Ann man was charged with buggery and indecent assault of the child on Thursday following intensive investigations.

He is said to be a relative of the toddler.

It was revealed that the child, who lives in another area of the parish, was sent to spend time with her grandmother between mid July and September.

It is believed that while at the house, the man forced himself onto the little girl.

When the child returned home on September 13 she complained to her mother about feeling discomfort.

She was taken to St. Ann's Bay Regional Hospital where she was examined by a doctor.

The man's court appearance is being finalised.
