Amid a recent spike in robberies by men carrying high powered rifles, the St. Elizabeth Police have intensified its operational activities to capture the hoodlums.

Acting Superintendent Coleridge Minto, head of the St. Elizabeth Police, told Radio Jamaica News that the High Command is concerned about the recent trend by criminals in the parish.

Three suspects were captured on Thursday and a firearm seized during a special operation in the Middlesex community.

"We continue to ask persons in the parish to share any information that they may have. We had a number of incidents over the last week, particularly robberies, and we know persons are moving across with rifles and robbing some of our business establishments. And so the operational activities are geared towards ensuring that we target these persons who are moving about, and to restrict their movement and to arrest," said Acting Superintendent Minto.

The operations continued Friday across communities in the parish.
