The suspect who fled from the police during an operation in Balaclava, St. Elizabeth last Tuesday, has been charged with several firearm related offences following his surrender.

Kimar Robinson, also known as 'Budshot', a construction worker of Oxford district in the parish has been charged with shooting with intent, possession of prohibited weapon and unauthorised possession of ammunition.

The police say Robinson, 29, was placed on an Identification Parade where he was positively identified.

It was reported that about 3:40 p.m. on September 22, the police were conducting an operation along the Balaclava main road when they signalled the drivers of two motorcycles to stop.

The men reportedly opened gunfire at the officers, who took evasive action and returned the fire.

One of the men, Jowayne Salmon, otherwise called 'Mani' was killed. A firearm was reportedly recovered from him.

The police say Robinson escaped on his motorcycle, but later turned himself in.
