St. Jago High school in Spanish Town, St. Catherine is on lock down after gunmen and police traded bullets in the vicinity of the institution this morning.
Students and staff are huddled in the auditorium and are awaiting the all clear from the police.
A heavy detachment of police is in the area.
The incident followed the fatal shooting of a man by the police about 1 o'clock this morning on Jones Avenue.
