A St. James policeman has been hospitalised after accidentally shooting himself on Tuesday.
The police report that about 3:10 p.m. the district constable was at an establishment when, while handling his service weapon, a round was discharged, injuring one of his fingers.
He was taken to a medical facility for treatment.
Police sources say the officer's condition is stable and the injury is not considered life-threatening.
The Independent Commission of Investigations has been informed about the incident.
