The St. Mary police have charged one of two suspects who attempted to carry out an armed robbery in the parish three weeks ago.
Thirty-nine-year-old Alwayne Edwards, otherwise called "Bull", of Sport Road, Islington, has been charged with shooting with intent, possession of prohibited weapon, unauthorised possession of ammunition and using a firearm to commit a felony.
Investigators reported that on September 5, the men trailed a 72-year-old farmer from a bank to his house in Lewis Store, Highgate, in a bid to rob him.
The farmer realised that he was being followed and raised an alarm.
A licensed firearm holder came to his assistance and opened fire on the gunmen, hitting Mr. Edwards, who was later taken into custody.
The other man escaped.
An illegal gun was seized by residents.
