The Government has engaged a new consulting firm as its representative on the Highway 2000 project.
Cabinet, at its sitting earlier this week, approved the award of a 2-point-5 million US dollar contract to the international engineering company, Stanley Consultants Incorporated.
The contract is for three and a half years.
The firm will also serve the National Road Operating and Constructing Company,(NROCC) as technical advisor on all specialist areas.
NROCC has responsibility for the implementation of Highway 2000.
Stanley Consultants' duties will include the review of designs and construction programmes; data reports and agreements submitted by the developer, contractors and others.
The firm is a worldwide provider of engineering, environmental, and construction services.
It has successfully completed more than 23,000 engagements in all 50 American states, and in 98 countries.
