The much anticipated Sting 2024 stage show has been postponed.

This was announced Thursday afternoon by Isaiah Laing, head of Supreme Promotions Ltd.

Laing confirmed that the annual Boxing Day dancehall stage show, which was set for Thursday night at the Jamworld Entertainment Centre in Portmore, St. Catherine, will not take place as planned due to the withdrawal of the production company for the event.

Clearsound Production Services Group Ltd. was contracted to provide stage and sound for Sting 2024.

In a release, Laing said he was saddened by the turn of events.

He said the postponement will cause a ripple effect throughout the economy and the music industry as hundreds of vendors and concessionaires had invested their money and wanted to recoup during the show.

More than 30 artistes were slated to perform at the event, this year dubbed Sting Live

The postponement is allegedly due to a payment issue.

In the release, Laing said a deposit of $1 million was remitted to Clearsound and on Tuesday, the remaining sum of $6.5 million was deposited via bank transfer.

But the public holidays meant the sum has not yet been reflected in the company's account.

This reportedly resulted in a breach of payment policies and the production company's subsequent withdrawal.

With the show set for tonight, Laing said it would be impossible to secure a new production company, so there was "no option but to postpone the event for a date to be announced".

The promoter spoke with Radio Jamaica's Jamaila Maitland on Thursday afternoon and expressed disappointment that all the plans for the event have collapsed.

"Something happened, it is beyond my control. And honestly, I don't even know how this came about. This is more like a spiritual attack...and I am just not there for it. God is in the vessel, so He knows best. So if the show is to be postponed tonight then let it be," he said despondently.

Laing, while noting that the decision to postpone was difficult, continued to draw on his faith for comfort.

"It is difficult; very, very difficult. But what can I do? I am being to led by God...so if He says do it, then I have to do it. I listen to Him all the time."
