Students among several people injured in St. Elizabeth crash

An eyewitness to the crash, speaking with Radio Jamaica correspondent Rodney Longmore

Six people, including four students, are in hospital following a motor vehicle crash in Top Hill, St. Elizabeth on Wednesday morning.
 
A flatbed truck transporting a backhoe loader overturned after the driver lost control along the main road.
 
A Toyota Noah, transporting students of Munro Preparatory, was hit by the truck.
 
The drivers of both vehicles and the students are being treated for varying injuries.
 
The brother of the man who was driving the Noah bus said it appeared the truck developed mechanical problems.
 
"When di truck come round di corner deh suh, it comin like it get outta control, either him lose di break or something, but when him a come down it just like run.... Den di truck go over dere suh, di tractor drop off first, den di truck flick go over di tractor, go up inna di air," he recounted. 
 
The incident also resulted in damage to JPS power lines and telecommunication cables.
 
The area between Southfield and Junction is now without those services.
