Suspected goat thief charged

A man who was arrested this week in Spanish Town, St. Catherine on suspicion of praedial larceny has been charged.
 
Dwayne Morrison, a 32-year-old mechanic and shop keeper of Homestead and Chambers Lane in Spanish Town, was taken into custody on Tuesday after the police intercepted a vehicle transporting stolen animals.
 
Mr. Morrison is charged with larceny of goat and unlawful possession of property.
 
He will be taken before the St. Catherine Parish Court on October 28.
 
The suspect was a passenger in the vehicle.
 
It was reported that the driver of a Toyota Corolla Axio was signalled to stop along the Spanish Town bypass in the vicinity of March Pen Road.
 
He disobeyed and engaged the police in a high speed chase which ended on Barracks Road.
 
The driver ran from the vehicle and escaped leaving Mr. Morrison and two goats in the rear passenger seat.
 
One of the animals has so far been identified by its owner.
