Three men killed by police in eastern Kingston

 
Three men were fatally shot Sunday morning during a reported armed confrontation with police personnel assigned to the Eastern Kingston Division. 
 
A policeman assigned the East Kingston Operational Support Team was also wounded in the incident.
 
Investigators reported that, shortly before 2:00 a.m., Sunday, members of the East Kingston Operational Support Team were conducting an operation along a section of Belmont Road, close to Windward Road, when they were engaged in a gunbattle with a group of armed men.
 
The three men were fatally shot in the encounter.
 
Two illegal guns were reportedly seized on the scene.
  
The Independent Commission of Investigationss [INDECOM] has initiated an investigation of the incident.
 
More than 150 fatal shootings by members of the security forces have been recorded so far this year.
