Total solar eclipse sweeps parts of US, Mexico, Canada

A total solar eclipse, which was experienced by millions of stargazers in parts of Mexico, the United States and Canada, has concluded its path over North America.

The phenomenon was first seen in the Mexican resort town of Mazatlan.

At the point of totality, the Moon perfectly blocked the Sun.

This lasted for about four minutes.

It swept north and east across 13 US states and finished in Canada.

NASA says this event is rare as it covered several densely populated cities, with some 31.5 million people being able to see it.

The space agency is conducting experiments, flying planes and rockets to study the Sun's atmosphere.
