The Ministry of Tourism says it is in talks regarding introducing a bubble concept for Carnival in Jamaica 2021 amid an acknowledgement by organisers that there will be no road march and related activities in April.
The ministry says while it is mindful of the significant economic loss cancelling the events will cause, the Government must continue to put measures in place to prevent unnecessary exposure to COVID-19.
Senior Advisor and Strategist Delano Seiveright says the ministry is in advanced dialogue with the organisers of carnival about introducing the bubble concept.
He says the talks are taking place within the Government's wider discussions to reopen the events sector, as soon as it is safe to do so.
The road parade was initially postponed in 2020 and the road march was expected to be held on Sunday, April 11 this year.
