Two homes were gutted by separate fires in neighbouring communities in St Elizabeth this morning.
The first incident was reported at 6:30 in Kinola district, where a family home was destroyed.
Six were left homeless. No one was injured in the blaze.
It is believed that a faulty gas cylinder caused the fire.
Two units from the Santa Cruz Fire Department responded to the blaze.
In the meantime, a unit from the Black River Fire Station responded to the second blaze in the neighbouring Leeds district.
The fire was reported at 6:45.
The owner of the house was not home when the fire started.
The cause of the fire is not known.
One resident expressed concern about what she says is the inadequate number of fire trucks serving St Elizabeth.
