Two students die in crash: Road Safety Council to meet on proposals for reducing road fatalities

 
Transport Minister Daryl Vaz says the National Road Safety Council will meet this week to examine further recommendations to stem the upward trend of road fatalities.
 
He was responding to Tuesday's crash which claimed the lives of two Tichfield High School students in Portland.
 
Five other students and the driver of the car were reportedly injured in the collision.
 
The deceased have been identified as Jajuan Wynter, 14, and Onijo Lindsay.
 
About 4:00 p.m., the car was transporting passengers along the roadway when it hit a parked truck.
 
Mr Vaz, speaking with Radio Jamaica News on Tuesday night, expressed devastation at the crash.
 
He said the government will be responding to the high incidence of road fatalities across the island. 
 
He said speeding was a factor in yesterday's deadly crash.
