Two of East Kingston's most wanted fugitives have been killed in reported confrontations with the security forces in the area.
Shaun Burke, otherwise called Gwan Bad was shot dead on Sunday morning in Dunkirk.
Investigators say Mr. Burke, who was a top tier member of the Brae Street/Black Street Gang, was wanted for murders and shootings in the East Kingston Police Division.
Two other men who were wanted for serious crimes were arrested during the operation.
During another operation on Tuesday, a second top tier member of the gang was shot dead.
He has been identified as Kevin Headley, otherwise called Tev.
Investigators say Mr. Headley, who escaped Sunday's police/military dragnet, was tracked to a house on Norman Avenue.
It is reported that he refused to surrender when the police and soldiers surrounded the premises.
During an exchange of gunfire, he was fatally shot.
Senior Superintendent Victor Hamilton, head of the East Kingston Police, said Mr. Headley was a central figure in the violence between warring gangs in Brae Street and neighbouring Bryden Street.
He was wanted for multiple counts of murder and shooting.
SSP Hamilton said several suspects have been detained since Sunday as the security forces move to dismantle gangs in Dunkirk and neighbouring communities.
There have been shootings and firebombings in the area in recent weeks.
Several persons have also been killed.
Gunmen shot-up a New Year's Day family reunion on Shoe Lane off Bryden Street leaving one man dead and three others with bullet wounds.
