The St Andrew South Police are investigating a triple-killing at Kidd Lane off Waltham Park and Spanish Town Roads on Friday night.
Two women and a one-year-old boy died in the shooting and arson attack.
The deceased have been identified as 30-year-old Lashane Ellis, her one-year-old son, and 39-year-old Kimiesha Gibson.
The victims were reportedly attacked about 11:30, in two separate houses located within the same yard.
Ms Ellis and her son were killed in one house, which was also firebombed, while Ms Gibson was shot and killed inside the other house, which was not set ablaze.
Ms Ellis' mother said she heard her daughter crying out for her to throw water on the burning house as she clutched her infant son tightly.
Moments later, she says her cries fell silent.
Dr Angela Brown Burke, Member of Parliament for St Andrew South Western, has condemned the tragic incident and questioned the state of mind of the perpetrators.
She is appealing to anyone with information to contact the police.
