The US and Russia completed their biggest prisoner swap in post-Soviet history on Thursday, with Moscow releasing journalist Evan Gershkovich and fellow American Paul Whelan.
The two along with dissidents including Vladimir Kara-Murza, were released in a multinational deal that set more than two dozen people free.
Prisoners from the United States, Germany, Poland, Slovenia, Norway, Belarus and Russia were involved in the swap "carried out" by Turkey's MIT intelligence service.
President Joe Biden praised the US allies who took part in the East-West prisoner swap, saying they made "bold and brave decisions" to release people back to Russia.
