US: Two students, two teachers killed in Georgia high school shooting

Two students and two teachers were killed and nine others wounded earlier on Wednesday in a school shooting an hour outside of Atlanta, Georgia in the US.

Speaking at a news conference on Wednesday afternoon, Georgia Bureau of Investigation director Chris Hosey said a suspect, a 14-year-old student, was alive and taken into custody following the gunfire at Apalachee High School.

Mr. Hosey said the suspect surrendered to law enforcement immediately after being confronted.

According to the authorities, the suspect was cooperating with authorities and will be charged with murder and handled as an adult.

A motive was unclear. Barrow County Sheriff Jud Smith said he was not aware whether the victims were targeted or whether there was a connection between the shooter and the victims.
