Voice of JDF soldier heard in secret recordings at One Don Gang trial

A voice believed to be that of Jermaine Robinson, the Jamaica Defence Force soldier linked to the One Don Gang, was heard in recordings played on Friday inquiring about a firearm that was reportedly used to guard the alleged leader of the criminal organisation, Andre "Blackman" Bryan.

During the secret recording played in the Home Circuit Court, Mr. Robinson, who is one of the 33 defendants on trial, said he wanted to speak with Mr. Bryan after the former don-turned-witness told him that rival gangsters from a community called Shelther Rock killed another defendant, Kevaughn Green's girlfriend.

Mr. Robinson said the gangsters carried out the attack because members of  the One Don Gang had not retaliated when another woman was shot.

The witness is heard agreeing with Robinson and that he planned to collect two sticks.

The witness explained that "stick" was another name used for an M16 rifle.

The prosecution has informed the court that arrangements have been made to begin transcribing other secretly recorded conversations.

On Thursday, the prosecution disclosed that a number of the recordings it intends to play in court were not transcribed.

Chief Justice Bryan Sykes said the documents are needed for the trial to proceed.
