Vybz Kartel and three co-accused found guilty

Vybz Kartel and three co-accused - Kahira Jones, Shawn Campbell and Andre St. John - have been found guilty of the murder of Clive 'Lizard' Williams. The 10-1 majority verdict was returned a short while ago, just over two hours of deliberations.

Shane Williams, the fifth accused, was found not guilty.

Sentencing has been set for March 27.

Adidjah Palmer a popular dancehall deejay who uses the stage name, Vybz Kartel, was arrested.

Kartel along with Kahira Jones were arrested by the St. Andrew North Police in relation to the killing of Clive 'Lizard" Williams, a dancer, two months earlier. Four other members of Kartel's so called “Gaza empire” - the entertainer's fashion designer Calvin "Moonie" Hayes; Shawn "Shawn Storm" Campbell; Shane Williams, Andre St. John, alias "Mad Suss,"  were also arrested.

The Prosecution alleged that in August 2011, Mr. Williams was taken to Palmer’s home in Havendale, St Andrew, where he was stabbed and beaten to death over two missing guns. Mr. Williams' body has not been found.

After lengthy detentions the accused men got their day in Court. Kartel and his five co-accused all pleaded not guilty on the first day of their murder trial in the Supreme Court in downtown Kingston.

Trial Judge Justice Lennox Campbell on November 19, 2013, at the end of proceedings during Day Two of the trial, revoked the bail of  Calvin 'Moonie' Haye.
