Wanted man, two others held as St. Ann police seize gun and ammunition

A man who was on the St. Ann police's wanted list for possession of prohibited weapons and ammunition, and said to be linked to a prominent dancehall artiste, has been captured.

He was held Friday morning along with two other men during a major operation in Mammee Bay, carried out by the St. Ann Specialised Operations team and the Divisional Intelligence Unit.

Police around 11:30 a.m., they entered a house at Greenwich Acres armed with a warrant, but nothing illegal was found inside.

However, the search extended to the rear of an adjoining premises where officers reportedly found a brown shopping bag inside a kennel.

The bag contained a submachine gun with its serial number obscured, an extended magazine with sixteen 9mm rounds, more than 20 additional rounds, an empty-glock magazine and firearm-cleaning agents.

Three men, including the wanted man, was taken into custody.

Further checks revealed that one of them is also wanted by the Area 1 Major Investigations Division in relation to a quadruple murder in Clark's Town, Trelawny in 2023.

Investigations are ongoing.
