Western Union has now restored service to all of its 12 locations that were closed in St. James.

Eight locations had been re-opened almost two weeks ago and the remaining four were re-opened this morning.

In a statement, Western Union said the recent closure of the agent locations in St, James, allowed it to implement additional control measures aimed at protecting consumers.

Sponsorship and Communications Manager at Western Union, Patria- Kaye Aarons, says the entity is confident that the new measures will be effective.

The measures include new pay-out restrictions.

Customers are also now  required to provide two forms of identification for collecting remittances.

Western Union subsidiary, Grace Kennedy Money Services, is the franchise holder for Western Union in Jamaica.

Grace Kennedy Money Services temporarily closed its outlets in St James two weeks ago as it sought to put security measures in place to combat irregularities, including the multi-billion dollar lottery scam based largely in Montego Bay.
