BWA refutes claims of WHO alert on Barbados water quality

The Barbados Water Authority has denied media reports that the World Health Organisation has issued a warning to the island regarding its failure to meet drinking water guidelines for Barbados.

In a statement, the BWA said that contrary to what is circulating on social media with regard to the quality of the water supply in Barbados, no warning has been issued to the government of Barbados by the WHO regarding failure to meet the WHO drinking water guidelines.

The BWA, Ministry of Health & Wellness, and the Environmental Protection Department have rigorous and continuous monitoring programmes for both the water in the distribution system and from groundwater sources.
