Delta Airlines to suspend flights to Grenada

US-based Delta Airlines will be suspending flights to Grenada during the island's low tourist demand season, in a deal the country's government says will save them over one hundred thousand US dollars this year.

Chairman of the Grenada Airlift Committee, Michael McIntyre says the commercial air carrier will not fly to Grenada between September one and December 15.

As a result of the decision to reduce Delta's service to the island, only Caribbean Airlines will offer direct connecting flights to and from New York to passengers in Grenada.

The decision was made because Grenada typically sees some of its lowest tourist arrivals during the September to December period.

American Airlines will also reduce its service  to Grenada as of the end of August,  going from four flights per week to three.
