The deaths of four people in Puerto Rico have been blamed
on flooding caused by a slow-moving tropical disturbance which is drenching the
US
territory.
Police said that among the dead was an elderly man who suffered a heart attack as he swept water from his home.
Two people drowned, and a fourth victim also had a heart attack.
The Puerto Rican farmers association said damage from the rains will cost agriculture at least $14 million, with bananas and coffee the crops hardest hit.
The weather system continues to affect Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and the eastern Dominican Republic.
