Consumers in Dominica are set to receive relief at the fuel pump.
Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit has announced that the government will apply a subsidy by reducing fuel taxes, effective the end of May, to coincide with the next cycle for price review.
The intervention comes in response to global crude oil prices surging by more than 30 per cent, which has directly driven up local consumer prices.
According to Prime Minister Skerrit, this subsidy will provide crucial financial relief to households, businesses, bus operators, and fishermen.
The Prime Minister said the measure represents a substantial fiscal commitment for the nation with the fuel subsidies due to cost the government over half a million dollars every month.
