Guyana gets international help to deal with fallout from deadly Mahdia fire

Guyanese President Dr. Irfaan Ali says Caribbean countries and the United States have offered to assist with the treatment of a number of schoolgirls who were severely burnt in the fire on Sunday night.
 
In a national address, Dr.Ali, reaffirmed his commitment to providing extensive assistance to the families affected by the tragic incident.
 
The police have indicated that they will send a file to the Director of Public Prosecutions today after it was revealed that the deadly fire was started by a female student.
 
The police said investigations uncovered that the female student had her cellphone confiscated by the dorm mother and a teacher.
