Clinical behavioural specialist, psychologist Dr. Coretta Brown-Johnson
Clinical behavioural specialist, psychologist Dr. Coretta Brown-Johnson, says that the level of rage meted out against the nurse that was assaulted by a businessman in St. Andrew last week, suggests a buildup of tension over time.
Dr. Brown-Johnson, who says the video of the assault was difficult to watch, adds that such displays of behaviour do not develop at the snap of a finger but are practiced.
She is urging people to seek help to manage their inner conflicts.
"The level of the behaviour that was displayed, I think it's going to be a while even before that nurse recovers, even in himself, in his own mind when he comes back to understanding what transpired. I mean, the consequences and the ripple effects to me are never ending in that sense. And so how do you move beyond this idea, you're on your way to work, and this event happens? And the manner in which he handled her, I mean, he was already enraged. And that's just the expression of it. That's a buildup over time. That's not something that just happens," she suggested.
Dr. Brown-Johnson was a guest Monday on TVJ's Smile Jamaica.
The businessman involved in the incident has since been arrested and charged.
The nurse is reportedly recovering at hospital.
