Jamaica has deployed another contingent of its security forces to Haiti to support efforts to restore law and order there.
The team comprises members of the Jamaica Defence Force and the Jamaica Constabulary Force and will support the Gang Suppression Force (GSF).
The contingent includes 25 personnel — eighteen from the JDF and seven from the JCF.
Of that number, twelve JDF members are part of a planned rotation, while one new JCF member has joined the mission.
This brings to 26the total number of Jamaican security personnel now deployed in Haiti.
Chief of Defence Staff, Vice Admiral Antonette Wemyss-Gorman says this marks Jamaica's third deployment in support of Haiti.
She says the rotation is designed to maintain operational readiness while ensuring continuity of mission objectives.
The earlier deployments supported the Multinational Security Support Mission.
The GSF works alongside the Haitian National Police and the Haitian Armed Forces to secure critical infrastructure, restore public safety, and facilitate humanitarian access.
