Ten American
missionaries who were arrested as they tried to take 33 children out of
earthquake-stricken Haiti
have been questioned by a judge in Haiti.
The missionaries, who are still protesting their innocence, are still being held by the Haitian authorities.
On Tuesday, Laura Silsby, the leader of the group spokes briefly to reporters from behind bars at the judicial police headquarters.
"All we know is God is going to bring this to a positive closure and we're just waiting for that answer. We're meeting with the government officials and talking with them (and) everything is going really well," she said.
The 33 children were brought back from the Haiti/Dominican Republic border on Sunday and are being cared for by a local charity.
They have yet to be reunited with their parents.
Twenty one of the 33 children are from a single village a two hour drive away from the Haitian capital Port-au-Prince.
Reports are that these children were not abducted but were handed over by their impoverished parents.
Meanwhile, two orphanages reported being contacted by the missionary group.
Both say they were suspicious and turned down requests to hand over children.
Marie Laurence Jocelyn-Lassegue, Haiti's Communications Minister said prosecutors would later decide whether to press charges.
It's a difficult moment for the Haitian government as putting the Americans on trial would send a strong signal that scooping up Haitian children is simply not unacceptable but with the United States at the centre of relief efforts, a trial could be damaging.
