Stuart Young sworn-in as Prime Minister of Trinidad & Tobago

Stuart Young was sworn-in a short while ago as the new Prime Minister of Trinidad & Tobago, succeeding Dr. Keith Rowley, who resigned after serving in that capacity for ten years.

The ceremony took place at the President’s House in St. Ann’s, with President Christine Kangaloo administering the oath of office to Young.

Young, 50, has held several cabinet positions, most recently being the Minister of Energy & Energy Industries and Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister.

Prior to that he served as Minister of National Security and Minister of Communications.

The new Prime Minister later pledged to lead with integrity, inclusion and accountability.
 
Camille Robinson Regis, former Planning & Development Minister, was also sworn-in as Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs.
 
The rest of the Cabinet will be announced Monday afternoon.
