Prime Minister of Saint Vincent & The Grenadines Godwin Friday is hoping to use his upcoming trip to Taiwan to boost economic ties and stimulate domestic growth through high-level talks.
Leading a delegation to Taipei, Prime Minister Friday announced that the visit will focus on "investment, economic cooperation, and areas that can support growth and job creation at home."
This year marks the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations.
Prime Minister Friday expressed his desire for a "productive week of engagements" aimed at building upon this longstanding friendship while creating new opportunities for his people.
The visit serves as a significant reaffirmation of the long-standing alliance established on August 15, 1981.
Although concerns had previously been raised regarding the NDP's stance on diplomatic recognition, Prime Minister Friday has repeatedly confirmed his government's intent to maintain formal ties with Taiwan.
