2020 IAAF World U20 Championship confirmed for Kenya

The 18th staging of the IAAF World Under-20 Championships in 2020 will be held from July 7 to 12 in Nirobi, Kenya. The governing body of athletics made this announcement on Thursday and they have awarded Nairobi to host this event after staging the World Under-18 Championship last year, which saw over 60,000 spectators in the stands every day during the event.

President of the IAAF Sebastian Coe says he hopes this event will continue to enhance the development of the Sport on the African continent. Jamaica won 4 gold, 5 silver and 3 bronze medals at the 2018 edition of the World Under-20 Championships in Tampere, Finland. This performance placed them second in the medal table behind Kenya.
