Three Jamaican swimmers achieve 'A' qualification standard for 2025 Pan American Junior Games

Only three Jamaican swimmers have achieved the "A" qualification standard time for the 2025 Pan American Junior Games, set to take place in Paraguay from August 9-23.

Sabrina Lyn, Emily McDonald and Collin McKenzie are the Jamaicans who met the stringent requirements during the qualification period, which ran from January 1, 2024, to May 17, 2025.

Lyn excelled at the 2024 Carifta Aquatics Championships in Nassau, Bahamas, securing "A" standard times in the 100m freestyle in 56.69 seconds and the 50m free with 25.82 seconds. She also achieved the "A" standard in the 100m butterfly with a time of 1 minute, 00.92 seconds.

Meanwhile, McDonald qualified in the 50m freestyle with a time of 25.98 seconds also at the 2024 Carifta Aquatics Championships.

McKenzie secured his spot with a time of 1 minute, 02.23 in the 100m breaststroke at the recent Panam Aquatics Championships in Medellín, Colombia.
