All hopes appear lost for Clunis to represent Jamaica at the Olympics

Report by RJRGLEANER Group Sports Reporter Spencer Darlington

It appears all hopes are now lost for national hammer throw record holder Nayoka Clunis to compete at the Paris Olympics next month. Her name is not reflected among the 66 athletes in Jamaica's entry list published by World Athletics on Friday.

32 athletes will compete in the hammer throw in total, comprising a combination of athletes qualified by entry standard and world ranking.

Sources who spoke on condition of not being named, told Radio Jamaica Sports that Clunis' ommission was caused by the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association.

A JAAA official wrote to Clunis indicating that they were not able to double check the list sent to World Athletics due to electricity and internet issues caused by the passage of Hurricane Beryl.
