Caribbean champion Chris Binnie, is expressing confidence ahead of his historic gold medal match at the Pan American Squash Championship in the Cayman Islands on Wednesday night. Binnie's historic run at the Pan Am Championship continued on Tuesday night as he booked his place in the men's singles final, becoming the first Jamaican to reach the gold medal match.
Binnie who became the first Jamaican to reach the semi-final stage at the championship, fought back from 2 sets down to beat American Chris Hanson 3-2. The American quickly grabbed the first two sets 11-3, 11-5 and looked to close out the contest, but Binnie rallied to take the third set 14-12. The Jamaican number one then claimed the next two sets 11-1, 11-8. Binnie will now play Peru's Diego Elias on Wednesday night at 8:15 Jamaica time.
